Standard Japanese Course (Requires Student Visa)
This is a comprehensive Japanese language program which provides students with solid class focus. Students learn kanji, vocabulary, reading, grammar, writing, listening, and conversation. Preparations for the JLPT and EJU are emphasized and mock exams are provided.
To meet the students’ needs:
- Complimentary review lessons in grammar and kanji are available for elementary level students.
- Advanced level students take elective classes twice a week.
- In-depth tutoring is offered for students writing application essays and preparing for interview tests.
- Understanding of Japanese manners and customs are incorporated throughout the coursework.

- Have completed 12 years of formal education or equivalent (able to provide required certification)
- Have studied Japanese language for 150 hours or possess N5 equivalent of prior Japanese study
Graduate School Preparatory Course (Requires Student Visa)
Graduate School application procedures in Japan can be quite daunting. This class provides support, counselling and strategic advises to students while improving their language skills required to navigate graduate school studies.
*Students who do not have sufficient Japanese level can begin their study earlier with YIEA then apply to join this class in June.

Short-term Standard Course (Other visa)
This course is designed for students who would like to learn the Japanese language in a comprehensive class and
immerse themselves in the culture for a short period of time (short-stay visa). Curriculum will follow that of the Standard Japanese Course.

Admission Requirements
You should
- Have valid visa status in Japan, or be able to attain such status (Temporary Visitor, Spouse of Japanese National, etc)
- At least understand hiragana, katakana, and simple greetings before start of class
School Location

YIEA is located in the heart of Yokohama port city.
From Narita or Haneda airport, take a train or Airport Limousine to get to Yokohama.
From Narita airport, it takes about 1 and half hours to reach Yokohama.
From Haneda airport, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to reach Yokohama.
The nearest station is Sakuragicho Station(JR・Subway). It takes a 4 minute walk to get to the school from the station.
Dormitory


The women’s dormitory is located 1 minute away from the school, while the men’s dormitory is located 15 minutes away.
Choose either single or double occupancy rooms with shared facilities (kitchen, shower, washer/dryer, internet).
Both dormitories are located in the center of the city and within walking distance of the school.
