Kyoshin Language Academy

Each student is special!

Kyoshin Language Academy (KLA) has 10 schools in Japan; 4 in Tokyo, one each in Aichi, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka respectively. They are one of the biggest Japanese Language Institute groups in Japan!

Their diverse student population consists of students from 29 countries, all studying together at KLA for various purposes. Most students are looking to further studies in Japan. Their Tokyo OLJ, Kyoto and Osaka schools also help students in exploring further education, improving Japanese and job-seeking. Also, there are Singaporean students at these schools.

Curriculums at Kyoshin Language Academy are based on Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). 8 levels of Japanese classes ranging from Beginner to Upper Advanced (N5 to N1+) are offered. In addition, the school also holds many group events such as speech, essay and design contests. They also support students in their studies, daily lives and mental well-being. Original Student Handbooks are available as well!

Long-term Course

This is a general Japanese language course, it is also a preparatory course for further education in universities and vocational schools.

There are 8 levels ranging from beginner to upper advanced. KLA teaches Japanese in Japanese, even in beginner classes.

They have 4 enrolment intakes per year, but beginner class is not available for enrolment in January.

Short-term Course

This course is suitable for students who would like to learn the Japanese language and immerse themselves in the culture
for a short period of time.

Admission Requirements

You should be at least 18 years old.


Summer Program (short-term)

This program is suitable for students who would like to learn Japanese language and immerse themselves in the culture.
Students can look forward to Japanese language course, cultural experience and home stay with a Japanese host family.

Admission Requirements

You should be at least 16 years old.


Art Class

(1) This is an optional course for Long-term Course students.

(2) This is a preparatory course for students who would like to enter Art University in Kyoto.
You can learn Japanese style dessins​ for your further education. For beginner class students, English interpreters are available to support your learning.

It is recommended to stay at share-houses or homestay. KLA can introduce the relevant agencies.

KLA offers a one-time ¥88,000 to students.

School Application Process

How to apply?
(For Long-term Course students)


Step 1


Apply for Certificate of Eligibility (COE)

COE is a fundamental document you need to have to apply for a student visa. It is not the Visa itself, just one of the steps for student visa application.

Step 2


Screening by Japan Immigration

This will take 2 to 3 months.

Step 3


Receive result of COE application

If successful, please pay the tuition fees.

Step 4


Apply for student visa

Bring the COE to Embassy of Japan in your home country and apply for student visa

Arrive in Japan
