Established in April 2021, Eikei University is a new public university run by Hiroshima prefectural government. The university specialises in a single English-taught undergraduate department- “Social System Design“, with a focus on liberal arts subjects related to 17 goals of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by United Nations and project-based learning, a centrepiece of their curriculum. Students can study a broad range of academic fields such as Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences, and graduate with Bachelor of Arts and Science degree.

School Highlights


1) All subjects are offered in both English and Japanese.
EJU / JLPT scores are not necessary for international students in admission process.

2) Project-Based Learning (PBL) is one of their core curriculum whereby students will work together with a list of 140 partner business organisations or NGO/NPOS in group projects. Students learn how to find core problems and craft solutions for a specific theme and then present them to the partners.

3) Generous Financial Supports– The university offers a tuition waiver program that provides eligible students with 50% tuition discount and special scholarship; eligible students will receive 50,000JPY per month for up to 4 years.

4) International Dormitory– A dormitory is located within their 15 storey-high campus building. Over 100 students can be accommodated and international students can move in with priority.
